This oculus that Poe negotiations about, it could be existent or it could wholly be made up. Poe negotiations about how it has a “ movie over it ” ( 2 ) but we ne’er truly cognize whether it is existent, or it is merely all in the storyteller ‘s caput. The oculus could be his existent oculus and something is incorrect with it, or it could be that they have a different mentality on the universe from their point of position. The storyteller loves the old adult male, but he ca n’t stand the oculus that the old adult male has. “ For it was non the old adult male who vexed me, but his Evil oculus ” ( 3 ) . In this sentence, the storyteller is seeking to state that the old adult male does n’t trouble oneself him at all, but when he looked or thought about the evil oculus it was hard to make anything. Americans have this thing where if they feel like if they ‘re under force per unit area, they end up squealing what they ‘re concealing. They know that if they ‘re guilty, they will state sooner or subsequently. In our encephalon positive normally takes over negative, but when we are guilty, the negative takes over because they ‘re scared of what is traveling to go on. “ I admit the title! – rupture up the boards! Here, Here! ” ( 18 ) . In this sentence, the storyteller admits that he had killed the old adult male. The beating bosom kept trouble oneselfing the storyteller, and it bothered him to the point that he merely had to state the constabulary where the old adult male ‘s organic structure was.

Poe ‘s deep enigma was interesting, and it all leaves us with the inquiry what happened and why he did what he did? The oculus leaves us all believing about whether or non it is existent. Even though the storyteller had thought he had committed the perfect slaying, in the terminal the guiltiness takes over his caput and he confesses everything. He is really American, because Americans ca n’t take the guiltiness, because we know that if we did something wrong it ‘s traveling to remain on our witting until we tell person. The storyteller had the pulse that kept crushing in his caput, and it would n’t travel off until he confessed that he killed the old adult male to the constabulary. So in the terminal, the storyteller realizes that a perfect slaying can ne’er be perfect.
