In the drama The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee William ‘s Laura is one of the chief characters. Laura has a disablement because of her leg. She has a little hitch and has to have on a leg brace. Amanda who is Laura and Tom ‘s female parent wants to happen Laura a adult male, person who is good for her and will take attention of her since she has a little disablement. Tom has his friend Jim come over for dinner, whom Laura has had a crush on for old ages. Jim gets Laura to open up so she is non so self witting and diffident. Sadly Jim is engaged to be married, which hurts Laura but was a good experience for her. Throughout reading the drama, each character has their ain symbols which represent them. Which symbols from the drama represent Laura? From reading the text, a few symbols that represent Laura from the drama are the glass menagerie, bluish roses and the unicorn.
The glass menagerie is non merely the rubric of the drama but it is an existent glass aggregation that Laura supports. In the drama, Laura is a really diffident and quiet miss, so the lone thing she truly has is her glass aggregation which Amanda calls it the glass menagerie. Another symbol that represents Laura from the drama is bluish roses. Laura gets the moniker bluish roses from Jim when they were in school together. Laura says, “ When I had that onslaught of pleurosis-he asked what was the affair when I came back. I said pleurosis-he idea I said Blue Roses! ” ( 289 ) . Blue roses are beautiful, different and alone. Laura is different from other people. She of class has her bad leg but she is besides a really diffident individual.
